DML Morning Briefing Tues. Jan. 26: Trump sends message, Twitter hits My Pillow guy, Biden sets record, Fauci’s paycheck, and more!

By  Team DML

Today is January 26 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch.

1 – Trump sends a message to Senate Republicans ahead of impeachment trial
Politico reports: A top political aide to former President Donald Trump spent the weekend quietly reassuring Republican senators that the former president has no plans to start a third party — and instead will keep his imprint on the GOP.

The message from Brian Jack, Trump’s former political director at the White House, is the latest sign that Republicans considering an impeachment conviction will do so knowing that Trump may come after them in upcoming primaries if they vote to convict him for “incitement of insurrection.”

Jack did not mention impeachment in his calls. But he wanted the word to get around that Trump is still a Republican — and for many, still the leader of his party.

“The president wanted me to know, as well as a handful of others, that the president is a Republican, he is not starting a third party and that anything he would do politically in the future would be as a Republican,” recounted Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.). “The Republican Party is still overwhelmingly supportive of this president.”

DML: Any Republican who votes for this sham impeachment needs to GO!

2 – Schumer Says Impeachment Trial Is Necessary To Bring Healing
The Daily Caller reports: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial is necessary to bring healing.

“Everyone wants to put this awful chapter in American history behind us. But sweeping it under the rug will not bring healing. The only way to bring healing is to actually have real accountability, which this trial affords,” Schumer said in a video.

DML: Schumer, you don’t know a THING about healing!!

House ‘Impeachment Managers’ marched their Article of Impeachment over to the Senate Chamber Monday evening.

DML: What was this – a circus performance?

3 – My Pillow CEO banned by Twitter
Reuters reports: Twitter Inc has permanently suspended the account of My Pillow chief Mike Lindell for repeated violations of the company’s policy on election misinformation, the social media firm said late on Monday.

Lindell, a devout supporter of former U.S. President Donald Trump, financed post-election protest movements in a bid to overturn the election win of President Joe Biden.

Lindell used his personal Twitter account, which had nearly half a million followers before being suspended, and the company’s account to spread unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud in the presidential election.

Lindell repeatedly violated the company’s civic integrity policy, due to which he was suspended, a Twitter spokesperson said in an emailed statement. Twitter had permanently suspended Trump from its platform earlier this month.

DML: They wn’t stop until they’ve cancelled every conservative voice!

4 – Fauci once joked about his ‘gov’t’ pay, here’s what he makes
Fox Business reports: Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top disease expert in the U.S., is the highest-paid federal government employee in the U.S.—surpassing even the president—according to a Freedom of Information Act request by OpenTheBooks.com.

Fauci pulled in $417,608.00 in 2019—his largest haul ever—and in the previous two years earned $384,625.00. Forbes reported that from 2010 to 2019, Fauci, the head of the National Institute for Health, earned $3.6 million.

Fauci has been embraced by many in the media and Hollywood who portrayed him as a calming presence during a tumultuous Trump administration. But he also has his share of detractors who say he was inconsistent with his messaging at the beginning of the pandemic and see him as a career bureaucrat relishing in his newfound stardom.

The Forbes report pointed to an interview Fauci had with actor Matthew McConaughey in August 2020. The actor asked him if he had millions invested in COVID-19 vaccines and Fauci responded, “Matthew, no…I got zero. I am a government worker. I have a government salary.”

DML: Poor, poor Fauci, just a government worker, on a government salary.  What a WASTE!!

5 – Rule by Decree: Joe Biden Sets Record for Executive Orders in First Week
Breitbart reports: President Joe Biden has issued more executive orders in his first week in office — not yet complete, as of this writing — than any of his 45 predecessors.

As of January 25, 2021, Biden has “issued 33 executive orders, actions, proclamations, memoranda and agency directives,” according to CNN. Twenty-one of these, according to the White House website, are executive orders.

President Donald Trump signed four in his first week in 2017; President Barack Obama signed five in 2009; President George W. Bush signed none in his first week in 2001; and President Bill Clinton signed one in 1993.

DML: More of the fundamental transformation.
